  • 2 min read

Hello Booyah Drinkers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Welcome back to another edition of the 2025 Booyah Buzz, your go-to source for the latest in health tips and Booyah updates. This week, we’re diving into the New Years resolutions of the Booyah team, our thoughts on dry jan plus what on earth are organic acids.
Hope you all had a fantastic festive couple weeks. We're bubbling with excitement for this year as we grow and continue to deliver your favourite gut boosting beverages.

  1. Our own 2025 Resolutions from the Booyah Team

Lisa: 10k steps a day
Phoebe: Do 5 consecutive pull ups
George: Run a -50min 10k
Tibby: More batch cooking and hold a freestanding handstand.
Phillip: To make it to the end of 2025
Leon: Read a book a month for a year

Resolutions are often destined to fail. From what I've learnt, building simple habits that conveniently fit into your day is the way to do it. Make your resolution as easy as brushing your teeth.

  1. Dry Jan

Did you know Dry January started in 2013 as a public health campaign in the UK and has since grown into a global movement? Taking a break from alcohol for just one month can improve sleep, boost energy, and save money! Cutting out the booze for a month doesn't mean you have/had a drinking problem. It's only a month though and can be a fun self experiment.

If you're participating in Dry January, Booyah Kombucha is the perfect alternative to alcohol. Whether unwinding after a long day or heading out to the local, pouring your bottle of kombucha into a pretty glass could be the healthy hug you need. Live cultures, organic acids, and antioxidants that support digestion and overall gut health. So, if you're skipping alcohol this January, you're also giving your body a little extra TLC with every sip. Get yours here.

  1. Organic Acids Organic acids production from lactic acid bacteria: A preservation approach - ScienceDirect

Organic acids, the superheroes of kombucha, are naturally produced during fermentation. When the SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) feeds on the tea and sugar, it creates organic acids like acetic, gluconic, and lactic acid. These acids support digestion by helping to break down food, balance gut bacteria for a thriving microbiome, and assist the liver in detoxifying the body. Some, like acetic acid, even help regulate blood sugar levels. It's a fascinating process that transforms simple ingredients into a health-boosting, functional drink.

HEALTH HACK

No Light, Sleep Right
Your body needs darkness to help you sleep and keep your circadian rhythm (your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle) in check. Even small lights, like from your phone or a streetlamp, can mess with this, making it harder to fall asleep and causing more stress the next day due to higher cortisol levels. To sleep better, keep your room as dark as you can with blackout curtains or a sleep mask. Read more about good sleep here.
