Fat, Behind the Brew & Decaf

  • 2 min read

Hello Booyah Drinkers!

Welcome back to another edition of the Booyah Buzz, your go-to source for the latest in health tips and Booyah updates. This week, we’re exposing myths around dietary fat and decaf coffee plus highlighting a fantastic member of Booyah staff. Exciting times for us at Booyah as we upscale our business. We just sent two 1000L batches of Booyah Kombucha to be bottled and packaged. This saves us a heap of time and labour and will allow us to grow Booyah to a much higher capacity! Watch this space.

Lisa, founder of Booyah is holding a live event: A wellness day in St Leonards for you to relax and recharge. There are only a few tickets left but you can find out more details here.

  1. Dietary fat is not the villain

Did you know the sugar industry shaped the way we think about food? In the 1960s, the sugar industry funded scientists to lie and blame fat—particularly saturated fat—for heart disease, conveniently letting sugar off the hook. This misdirection stuck, and by the 1980s, low-fat diets, margarine, and carb-heavy meals became the norm, while butter and bacon got unfairly vilified. Fast forward to today and many of us still have not heard the truth.
The truth is we now know that healthy fats—like those in butter, eggs and tallow—are vital for brain health, hormones, and keeping you healthy. Read more about this topic here.

Pass the butter, please!

  1. Behind the Brew

Tibby has been a huge asset to the Booyah since joining about a year ago. Tibby looks after our trade customers though she slots in to quite a few different important avenues at Booyah. Being a qualified Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist she can give great advice on health and nutrition at our shop counter, having an intricate understanding of the benefits of Booyah products. 1. What lurks in decaf

I'm on a proper myth busting spree at the moment. I apologise if I've ruined anything for you from this weeks newsletter haha.

If you think decaf coffee is the innocent alternative to your morning brew, here’s something to sip on. Many traditional decaffeination methods use industrial solvents like methylene chloride or ethyl acetate to strip the caffeine from the beans. Yes, that’s right—chemicals you wouldn’t dream of drinking might be involved in making your cup. Thankfully, not all decaf is created equal. Look out for methods like the Swiss Water Process, which uses just water, or CO2 extraction, which is natural and chemical-free. So, next time you’re reaching for decaf, make sure it’s as clean as it claims. Because your coffee break should nourish, not compromise, your health.

Or, drink Booyah Dandelion Coffee - the perfect caffeine free alternative.

HEALTH HACK

Barefoot Shoes
I fixed my lower back pain with barefoot shoes. Modern shoes act like casts for your feet, weakening muscles and restricting movement. Barefoot shoes let your feet move naturally, improving alignment and easing pain from your back to your knees. And don’t worry—some of the modern designs look surprisingly good.
