Hello Booyah Drinkers!
Welcome back to another edition of the Booyah Buzz, your go-to source for the latest in health tips and Booyah updates. This week we want to go over some recent cap issues, opening the seed oils can of worms and glossing over prebiotics and their importance once again.
Reminder to do what you can to support the local pubs, bars cafe's and restaurants. It's been a tough winter and they all need your support where possible in order to stay open.

The cap from our newly outsourced bottling
We messed up!
So as you know we've just started outsourcing some of our bottling and started using a different cap. Now I have a pretty good grip if I say so myself and I've noticed about 10% of these caps are not budging at all. They are on far too tight.
The bottling company have been made aware of this and reassured Booyah that this won't happen again. Now, if you are really struggling to get the caps off then please do get in contact with us and we will replace the bottles. That being said you still may be given an overtightened bottle because unfortunately there is no way of knowing if the cap is too tight.
This is very annoying, we're really sorry for the situation and really appreciate your patience. I explain a bit more on a video on instagram here.

The confusing conundrum of seed oils
Most supermarket oils; soybean, sunflower, rapeseed - undergo intense processing, including high heat, chemical solvents, and bleaching. This not only strips away nutrients but can also create harmful byproducts like trans fats and oxidised compounds, which have been linked to inflammation and metabolic issues.
A not-so-fun fact: rapeseed oil, also known as canola, was originally used as an industrial machine lubricant before being rebranded as “heart-healthy.” This shift coincided with the sugar industry’s efforts in the 1950s and ‘60s to demonise saturated fats like butter and lard while promoting grains, sugar, and refined vegetable oils as dietary staples.
When these oils are heated during cooking, they break down further, releasing potentially carcinogenic compounds. Some research suggests that excessive intake of seed oils, particularly those high in omega-6 fatty acids, may contribute to chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic dysfunction.
This topic is currently so controversial where many believe seed oils are safe for us to consume. Perhaps cold pressed seed oils are not quite as bad if they're not as ultra processed. Everyone has a different answer. Personally I usually refrain from consuming things that barely resemble its original ingredients. I'll have a lot of quality butter in my diet because I like it and I know it's come from a cow's milk. Something as ultra processed as rapeseed oil that was previously only used as machine lubricant is not attractive to me.

Prebiotics for a healthy gut
Prebiotics are the unsung heroes of gut health. These are non-digestible fibres found in certain foods that fuel the good bacteria in your gut, helping them thrive and multiply. Think of them as the food for your microbiome, helping to balance your gut flora and improve digestion. A healthier gut means better immune function, improved digestion, and even enhanced mood, since gut health is closely linked to the brain. So, by including prebiotic-rich foods like dandelion root, garlic, onions, and bananas in your diet, you’re supporting your gut bacteria and paving the way for a healthier, more balanced body. And here’s a bonus: prebiotics work even better when paired with probiotics, creating a powerful synergy for your digestive system. Learn more about Dandelion Coffee here.
HEALTH HACK
Stainless Steel Pan
Ditch the non-stick and go stainless. Most non-stick pans are coated with chemicals that can break down at high heat and leach into your food. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is non-toxic, durable, and doesn’t react with acidic foods. Plus, with the right technique—preheating the pan and using enough fat—you can keep food from sticking without the dodgy coatings. Healthier cooking, zero chemicals, and a pan that lasts a lifetime.
